Local leadership, long-term creativity, and community growth in Kibera
A partnership rooted in Kibera
AfroCure was founded in 2020 by Amos Odhiambo, a Kibera native whose own journey through community arts helped shape the organization’s vision. Today, AfroCure leads year-round programming in partnership with Artolution, serving more than 100 children and youth through a team of 12 teaching artists and facilitators.
This partnership is built on a shared belief that long-term change grows from local leadership. AfroCure leads the work on the ground. Artolution supports that growth through partnership, training, and investment in the people and structures that make sustained programming possible.
What the program includes

Performance & Expression
Kibera is one of the largest informal settlements in Africa. For many children and youth growing up there, access to consistent creative and educational opportunities remains limited. AfroCure and Artolution are working together to create spaces where young people can build skills, develop relationships, and strengthen their sense of direction through collaborative art-making.
Building a permanent home
After years of working from a limited rented space, AfroCure is developing a dedicated arts center in Kibera.
Artolution has supported the purchase of land and the construction of the first phase, creating a permanent space for expanded programming, increased participation, and long-term sustainability.
The first phase is under construction and opening in this year, creating a permanent space for expanded programming and long-term growth.
